Excel FILTER Function |  Excel One Minute Quick Reference

The FILTER function in Excel allows you to filter a range of data based on the criteria you define. The FILTER function is a dynamic array function. The FILTER function has three arguments, but only two are required.

Syntax for the FILTER function

 

=FILTER(array,include,[if_empty]

 

Arguments for the FILTER function

  • array - The array, or range to filter REQUIRED
  • include - A Boolean array whose height or width is the same as the array REQUIRED
  • [if_empty] - The value to return if all values in the included array are empty (filter returns nothing) - Optional
