Zip Code Data Type in Excel
Excel now has a **Zip Code data type**. The Zip Code data type is new and is currently available to only Beta Channel Excel users. It should be released soon to all Microsoft 365 subscribers and Excel for the web.

To use the Zip Code data type
1. Select your zip codes 2. Click inside your zip codes. **CTRL + T** to make a table. This is not required but recommended. 3. After making a table, click **Data**- **Zip Code** under the Data Types Group. _Note_: you may have to click the **More** arrow to see the other data types.

4. Select **Add Column** and pick the field.

Fields included with the Zip Code Data Type in Excel
_The list below is not all-inclusive._
01. median household income 02. per capita income 03. population by race 04. population by education 05. latitude 06. longitude 07. population by marital status 08. state sales tax 09. water area 10. households 11. land area 12. female population 13. male population 14. area code 15. city 16. city sales tax 17. FIPS code 18. annual payroll
Why use a Table instead of a range?
I recommend making your range a table before using the Zip Code data type. Simply click in your range and do CTRL + T on the keyboard. With a table, the header rows automatically appear. Tables do a lot of stuff ranges will not.
