Redact PDFs with Phantom PDF

Redacting tools allow you to remove or redact sensitive images and text that are visible in a PDF. Examples are phone numbers, social security numbers, Protected Health Information (PHI), and images. Redaction is the process of permanently removing visible text and graphics from a document.

To redact information with Foxit Phantom PDF:

  1. Open the pdf file.
  2. Click on Protect tab.
  3. Click Mark for Redaction in the Redaction group.
  4. Draw a rectangle around what you want to redact.
  5. Click Apply Redactions.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Save the document.

Information you may want to redact or legally need to redact:

  • Names
  • Telephone numbers
  • Social security numbers
  • Fax numbers
  • Electronic mail addresses
  • Medical record numbers
  • Full face photographic images and any comparable images

Note: 00:47 in the video I change the redaction color from solid black to gray. You can make the color any color you want.
